This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Asook collects, how we use it, and the rights you have over it under UAE law, including Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (the "PDPL").
When you create an account, place an order, or contact us, we collect: your email address and a hashed password; order details including items purchased and delivery address, name, and phone number; and basic usage data such as which products you view or save, used to show you relevant recommendations. We do not collect or store your full payment card number — that is handled directly by Stripe, our payment processor.
We use your data to process and deliver your orders, communicate with you about order status, maintain your account, prevent fraud and abuse, and improve the marketplace (for example, showing product recommendations based on your past orders). We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
To fulfil an order, the vendor supplying your items receives your name, phone number, and delivery address, and our delivery partner receives the same information to arrange pickup and drop-off. Payment information is shared directly with Stripe under their own privacy and security practices. Order notifications may be sent to vendors via WhatsApp or Telegram. We do not share your data with any other third party except where required by UAE law.
We retain account and order data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward, as needed to resolve disputes, comply with legal or tax obligations, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account as described below.
Under the PDPL, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate data, request deletion of your data (subject to any legal retention requirements), and object to certain uses of your data. We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted password storage and secure payment processing through Stripe. No system is completely secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.
Asook is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age required to enter into contracts under UAE law.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
